… I know he wanted to join, but something must have happened. And in fact, Kicha Ganpati got his master's degree from IIT Kanpur early on, and he became like a younger brother to Professor Rajaraman. And we just talked to him about Professor Rajaraman, and I wish Kicha could be here to say a few words, but he was very sad to hear about Professor Rajaraman's passing away.
But as far as I'm concerned, I graduated from IIT Kanpur in 1968– entered IIT Kanpur in 63, July 63, and Professor Rajaraman had joined IIT Kanpur in April 63. So we had very, very early exposure to him. In fact, early on in 64, there was some special course offered to our batch, and some people joined that. But then he taught TA 306 to us, he and Professor Mahabala, and very gentle personality, very knowledgeable, and like Professor Sahasrabuddhe.
By the way, Professor Sahasrabuddhe was the TA at that time. I remember in EE 301 class, he took us as a TA [sic.].
And so those notes, cyclostyle notes that were given to us, eventually became a book in Fortran programming. And as everybody else has said here, obviously, this whole history about him starting computer science–as Professor Sharma, joined earlier stated–, but it's my great honor and pleasure to say a few words about him, and he'll always be remembered.
Thank you. Thank you very much.
